1、 Shakespeare was born and brought up in Stratford- upon- Avon,Warwickshire.At the age of 18, he married Anne Hathaway,with whom he had three children. When Shakespeare was twenty- one,he went to London,a very interesting place,to try his fortune.The famous London Bridge and St Pauls Cathedral were t

3、arn.And he learned these lessons so well that when he came to write his plays,he made such use of them as no writer ever made before or since. Some time between 1585 and 1592, he began a successful career in London as an actor, writer, and part- owner of a playing company called the Lord Chamberlain

4、s Men,later known as the Kings Men.At the age of 49,he appeared to have retired to Stratford,where he died three years later. Shakespeare produced most of his known works between 1589 and 1613.His early plays were primarily comedies and histories,which are regarded as some of the best works ever pro

5、duced in these genres(流派)He then wrote mainly tragedies(悲剧) until about 1608,including Hamlet, Othello,King Lear and Macbeth,all considered to be among the finest works in the English language.In his last phase,he wrote tragicomedies,also known as romances,and collaborated(合 作) with other playwright
