Dinosaurs are often compared to dragons, but are seen as cooler because t

14、heyre real. The huge skeletons in museums prove their existence millions of years ago on the same Earth that we now live on. Meanwhile, new discoveries have been made in different parts of the world that open up a bigger picture of these ancient species. And how they went extinct is also a popular s

15、ubject of scientific studies. However, we still seem to know so little about dinosaurs, and have to rely on our imagination when it comes to questions like “How did they live?”, “What did they sound like?” and “How fast could they run?”. Its this sense of mystery that adds to dinosaurs attraction co

16、mpared to other fierce animals like lions and tigers - animals that can be seen in todays zoos. But theres more to this dinosaur appeal. According to Guardian reporter Brian Switek, humans are fascinated by dinosaurs not just because were interested in their history, but also because were trying to

25、ctronic screens, seeing the world on tiny displays. These small screens help us stay connected to the people we love, but they can also make us miss things that are important. The screens themselves arent really the problem, but how we use them - or allow them to use us. Im not saying we should give

26、 these screens up completely - how else would we keep in touch? But sometimes, its such a pleasure to set them aside and stand like a child by the ocean, with eyes, arms and heart wide open. C High-tech poetry What is poetry? For many of us, its something that lives on the dusty end of the bookshelf, inside

But theres a new generation of writers, who are redefining this art form by taking it to social media platforms like Instagram, reminding us just how relevant (有现实意义的) and powerful poe

31、try can actually be. Dubbed (称作) “Instapoets”, Indian-Canadian writer Rupi Kaur, 25, is one of them. By writing poems on Instagram, she has attracted over 2 million followers and has now published two poetry books, with both topping the New York Times Best Seller list. 32、ut, most importantly, she writes in a language that people can actually understand. About being confident, for example, she wrote: “ If you are not enough for yourself/ you will never be enough/ for someone else.” And about fighting against gender inequality, she wrote: “ Bring your hammer and fists

33、/ we have a glass ceiling to shatter(击碎)/ lets leave this place roofless.” “ Im writing for the generation thats reading my work,” Kaur told The Economist. “ Im not talking down to them; Im having the same experiences as them.” This sense of intimacy (亲近感) - which is the opposite to the usually cond

34、escending (居高临下的) attitude that traditional poetry has - is probably why Instapoets are so popular today. According to global information company the NPD Group, last year, 47 percent - almost half - of poetry books sold in the US were the works of Instapoets, and as many as 12 of the top 20 best-sel

35、ling poetry writers were Instapoets. But there are criticisms that the poems by Instapoets are so simple that they dont qualify as “real” literature - just like when US singer-songwriter Bob Dylan was given the Nobel Prize in literature in 2016, and when this years Pulitzer Prize for music went to K

36、endrick Lamar, a US rapper. However, the popularity of Instapoets isnt surprising to Kaur at all. “ Good art will always break boundaries,” she told the Los Angeles Times. In fact, Kaur knows all about “serious” poetry, as she studied English literature at school. But she still chose to keep her poe

37、ms simple. “ I want readers to open up this book, start the poem, and from beginning to end I want their reading experience to be simple,” she told CBS News. “ But when they finish that poem, I want their stomach to turn.” And as so many things have evolved long with technology - communication and s
